Do you have a provisional driving licence?

If you have a provisional licence already please remember to check it has your correct address and is fully in date.

Tips for Practice with Friends or Family
Before deciding to take private practice please read MJ Driving School's guide here.
You should now think about the vehicle you intend to use for private practice driving lessons.
Does the car have a valid MOT ? You can check this here.
Is the car taxed ? You can check if it is here.
The next thing to think about is insurance.

Recommended vehicle checks before starting private practice
Lights - Check all bulbs are working including brake lights,indicators and headlights / tail lights.
Tyres - Check all tyres for any visable cuts or bulges remember tyres should have a minimum tread depth of 1.6mm across 3/4 of the tyre.
Also keep a check on tyre pressures which you can find in the owners handbook.
Oil, water and fluids - Make sure the oil, coolant, brakefluid and screenwash are at the correct levels.
Brakes and steering - test the brakes before starting a journey, brakes should not be spongy and vehicle should stop evenly. Steering should not be heavy.
L - Plates - These should be clearly visable and should not be stuck in windows as this could effect your vision.
Rear facing mirror for your supervising driver to use.
Once you are at the required standard your driving instructor will advise you to book a driving test. Remember to discuss test centre locations and suitable times to book a practical test.
